Information: On a balmy Sunday morning in May of 1984, Dennis W. Matyas was baptized in the name of the Triune God. In August of 2017, he was installed as the pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Frankenlust, Michigan.
In the time between those events, he earned more degrees than a normal human being would think necessary, including a BA in Religious Studies from Concordia University (2006), a Master of Divinity from Concordia Seminary, St Louis (2011), and a Masters in Sacred Theology from the same institution (2013). Indeed, such was the haughtiness of his aspired integration into the LCMS pastorate that he sought after, wooed, and married a very attractive farmer's daughter named Valerie, who attended Concordia University for secondary education (English Major) and taught in Lutheran schools for four years while Dennis sat around reading books and writing papers that few people ever read. Valerie paid for the whole thing, and Dennis passed all his classes, being ordained in 2012.
Since 2010, while on vicarage in Denver, Dennis and Valerie began being blessed with children, namely Olivia (7), Ethan (5), Isaac (4), and Abigail (2). The last two were born while Dennis served as the sole pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Albion, Michigan for exactly five years and one day.
Dennis is currently in the midst of earning his Ph.D. in Theology and Culture from Concordia Seminary with an emphasis on Homiletics (the theory of preaching). In his spare time, he enjoys teaching the occasional night class as an adjunct instructor of New Testament at Concordia University, Ann Arbor. He also plays the piano, reads fantasy novels, and drinks far too much coffee.
