Academics

chapel 4th bible 72dpiSt. Paul Lutheran Schooloffers a high quality, well rounded academic program. Curriculum basics include core studies in Religion, Language Arts and Literature, Math, Science, Social Studies (including History and Geography) Art, Music, and more. In addition to these regular classroom activities, Academics are enhanced with the following:

  • Foreign Language – Students in PK-8 have Spanish twice a week.
  • Standardized Testing – Grades K-8 take the Stanford standardized test in April. Students in grades 1, 3, 5, and 7 also take the Otis-Lennon standardized test.
  • Library – Students in K-8 use the school library once a week. Mrs. Andra Warren is our librarian.
  • Accelerated Reader – Grades 1-8 read books and then take online tests about the stories they read. Each book is worth a given number of points. Grades 3-8 have to reach a goal each quarter. Students are recognized at the end of the year for outstanding number of points reached.
  • Geography Bee – Grades 4-8 compete in this in January. The overall winner takes a test with the possibility of moving on to more competitions.
  • Spelling Bee – Grades 1-8 compete in this in February. A winner is chosen from each grade. Winners from each grade 5-8 will move on to compete in the Bay City Regional Lutheran Spelling Bee.
  • Peace Poster Contest – Students in grades 6-8 create a poster demonstrating peace. First-Third places are awarded, with those winning students receiving a savings bond. This is done by the Bay City Lions Club. This takes place in September.
  • Michigan Hero Essay – Students in grades 7-8 write an essay about their hero. Top essays from the class are submitted. This takes place in September.
