We Believe

LCMS logo

We are a member congregation of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod www.LCMS.org.  As such, we believe, teach, and confess that the Old and New Testaments of the Bible are the true and inerrant Word of God.

We believe that Jesus Christ died for the sins of all humanity and rose again for our salvation. In our church services, you will hear the comfort of this Gospel, the hope of the resurrection of the dead, and instruction for Christian living.

You will also find the sacraments (baptism and holy communion) practiced according to God’s own command and consistent with the earliest Christians.

As a part of the LCMS, our authority is the Bible, and we hold to the Biblical doctrines explained in the Book of Concord.

Our History

In 1847 and again in 1848, two groups of German settlers made their way from Neuendettelsau, Germany to “the wilderness” located on Saginaw Bay, Michigan.

On June 22, 1848, under the leadership of Rev. Ferdinand Sievers, St. Paul Lutheran Church of Frankenlust was formed. They held their first worship service on Sunday, July 9, 1848 on the banks of the Squaconning Creek.

St. Paul Lutheran School began with a group of five children who met in Pastor Siever’s home. It wasn’t until 1865 that a proper school building was erected.

Today, 170 years later, St Paul Lutheran Church & School continues with the mission of those original German settlers: “To proclaim the Good News of salvation that comes by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.”

Pastor Siever’s hopes, dreams, and vision for St. Paul Lutheran Church & School, endure today as we continue our walk with Jesus Christ.
